would like to
invite you to our
The 9th Connecticut returned to New Haven in 1864 to veteranize
the regiment. The regimental history states that "Colonel Cahill
and approximately 400 men..." arrived at Long Wharf aboard the
transport "Continental." Families visited, politicians spoke, and
bands played for these returning troops.
This August, Fort Nathan Hale Restoration Projects is sponsoring a
reenactment of the 9th’s return. Civilians, politicians, a band, and (of
course) the military will combine to recreate what it may have been like
for these men to return home for a brief time. Camp life, military drill,
music, speeches, and several other events and scenarios will fill the
weekend with fun for all ages.
Please join us! Admission is $5 per adult, children under 16 free.
